Local Benefits

Culcairn Solar Farm will bring a range of benefits to Culcairn and surrounding areas.

Expected benefits for New South Wales

In June 2020, Aurecon undertook an economic impact assessment of the expected economic benefits the project would deliver for New South Wales and, in particular, the region of Riverina Murray.

community benefits program

We believe in sharing the benefits of renewable energies with the communities we operate in.

We expect to contribute $10 million to the communities over the life time of the project in a number of ways.

The Community Benefits Sharing Program will provide significant, meaningful benefits to communities around the Culcairn Solar Farm.

Construction disruption payment

Payment made to qualifying neighbours at the start of construction

Community benefit fund

We allocate funds to local community projects such as sports, clubs, tourism and heritage via a yearly grants process.

Proposed voluntary contribution

Voluntary contribution paid to council in the Greater Hume Shire.

We project a $400-500 million infrastructure investment during the lifetime of the project.

During construction, we estimate around 400 jobs will be created with an economic boost for local accommodation and service sectors. After construction, around 7 jobs will be created during operations of the project.

We hope to begin hiring before construction in late 2020.
